Having Fun

Our objective
To improve family literacy, numeracy and language and have fun along the way!

What we did
We organised a residential programme for two days for 12 city children and their parents in the countryside. They had the chance to live and work together and gain hands on experience of many areas of the curriculum, in a rural setting. A range of farm tasks complemented classroom activities. Feeding the animals, for instance, helped the children and their parents to learn first hand about ratios and proportions.

How well it worked
One parent said: It was fun, enjoyable, brilliant my son didn't want to go home. Another said: I'm really proud of the way all the children mixed with each other. It was a fantastic experience, we wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Benefits we see
Developed skills of cooperation and tolerance. We had fun together.
