To provide volunteering opportunities to strengthen applications to universities and to prospective employers.
We developed a 'curriculum extra' programme of twilight qualification courses and volunteering programmes in partnership with the Adult Education service, open to students and parents / carers
With the support of local primary schools, Adult Education, right to read campaign we were able to offer courses on 'reading support in primary schools', First aid, painting and decorating and aromatherapy.
Over 100 adults have registered on our programmes to date and we are seeing increasing interest in people who want to make a contribution. The serve as good role models by raising the expectations of younger students who can see 'lifelong learning' in action.
